Note: The IFR, a super-advanced reactor operated in Idaho from 1986-94 and once identified by the National Academy of Sciences as the nation’s most important science research program, was canceled due to political pressure from anti-nuclear activists and has been decommissioned. Restarting the program is no longer possible in the US, and most of the program’s remaining objectives are being achieved in a similar development project in Japan. This is no longer an active campaign.
