Restructure the Department of Energy

It is time for serious reform at the Department of Energy. There are at least five distinct nuclear R&D efforts, none of which are based on any central policy. The only possible result is disorganization and waste–and cuts in valuable programs. The Molten Salt Reactor development program, for instance, is receiving a scant $40,000 annually for what should be one of the department’s highest priority efforts, while millions are wasted on needless bureaucracy and turf wars.
